Deer are perhaps the most destructive nocturnal animals, being highly intelligent and difficult to deter. The recommended placement for the ASPECTEK Solar units is a cluster mount, with four units placed on a single post or pole, 4 feet high, each facing a different direction (North, South, East, West).

For owls, hawks, and purple martin houses, the lights should be mounted 10-14 feet high on a single post in a cluster mount, with each light facing a different direction. For guineas, the lights may need to be placed higher than 14 feet, at the same level as the roosting birds.

For large ground predators like coyotes, bobcats, wild boars, mountain lions, and bears, the lights should be placed approximately 100-200 feet apart, around all four sides (perimeter mount) and at eye level to the predator, around 20-30 inches off the ground. For smaller predators like foxes, raccoons, opossums, and skunks, the lights should be placed approximately 25-50 feet apart, also in a perimeter mount and at eye level to the predator, around 10-15 inches off the ground.

The YARD SENTINEL PREDATOR EYE is completely waterproof and does not require storage during the winter or off-season. It is not recommended to store the device due to battery drain, which may prevent it from starting up again. The battery will not charge in cloudy weather, but the device will function after being fully charged by the sun for a few hours. It is essential to keep the solar battery surface clean, as dust can affect the recharge.

To mount the YARD SENTINEL PREDATOR EYE, the cluster mount involves securing four lights on each side of a post, with a 2x2-inch or 1x2-inch stake driven about 12 inches into the ground. For the perimeter mount, the lights should be secured on all sides of the area to be protected, using finishing nails, wood screws, Velcro strips, plastic zip ties, or lightweight stovepipe/galvanized wire, ensuring the lights lie flat against the fence or post.
